This is incredible. Hillary has just announced that she is quitting the race for the Democratic nomination for President. Without shedding any tears, she thanked all of her supporters for their incredible efforts, Bill and Chelsea for their unceasing support, and all of the people who voted in Democratic primaries. But, she said, it was time to realize that the most important thing for all Democrats is to unite and beat John McCain in the fall. She said that she had called Senator Obama a few minutes earlier, and that he had very graciously congratulated her on running a great campaign, and that he was proud to live in a country where a woman could run for President and be taken seriously. Senator Clinton said that she looked forward to returning to the Senate, and working with the rest of the Democratic majority in Congress to keep President Bush from doing any more damage to the country in the few months that he has left. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that he was glad to have two of his Democratic Senators back in the Senate full time, at least for the next couple of months, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that she was looking forward to a great convention in Denver.
