Democrats! And the Senate! Going great together!

One of the great things about a presidential election year is that there are also lots of other races going on, so, for a political junkie like me, there's just oodles of things to pay attention to. It's like being in a candy store. Particularly this year, when things are looking good for Democrats. Talking Points Memo has a nice post about the races in the Senate. Republicans are defending 9, count 'em, 9, seats. Democrats? One. Uno. A single seat. Right now, the Democrats control the Senate, but just barely, 51-49. If the Democrats pick up several seats, that could be 55-45. And that's actually at the low end of expectations. Regardless, it is going to be easier to pass Democratic legislation next year.
