Barack Obama held his first press conference. He made it clear that he will respect George Bush's remaining time in office, he talked about solving the problems of the economy, he took questions, cracked a couple of jokes, and was surrounded by his economic policy and transition teams. It was fairly straightforward. He came across as decisive, anxious to get started, yet patient, knowing that he cannot do anything until January 20th. No new policy initiatives, mostly generalities and platitudes, but with a calm and commanding presence. Really quite normal, actually. Pretty much what you expect from a President of the United States.
How insanely refreshing.
