Halberdiers

New members of the Swiss Guard were sworn in today at the Vatican. They are called "halberdiers," because they carry "halberds," which are a kind of battle axe. My last name is derived from that. Legend has it that we are descended from one guy who was really good with it. Andrew Sullivan has a great picture:

Cool! Which reminds me...are you familiar with "The Office", in particular the character named Jim Halpert? Jim Halpert=John Halbert? I think you seriously were the model and should sue someone...I've been meaning to tell you for 3 years. I really need to write things down and then, like, do them. :)

Is he tall and handsome, with a thick head of amazing hair? Articulate, witty, and sensitive? Capable of calming the mind of a raging investment banker in three clicks on a Word document? Then, yes, he probably was modeled after me! I should watch it for the similarities. I just might sue - I do work for a law firm!
